The Domestic Engineer will be required to:

  • Supervise, fault find and install domestic plumbing and heating systems for service maintenance or small works projects in a neat, tidy and professional manner.
  • Promote the company and brand always. Present a professional image and considerate attitude towards clients’ needs, expectations and concerns.
  • Feed back to management where you believe there is a conflict in information provided or with regulations and recognised standards of good practice. Receive direction and follow instruction from the Directors, Supervisors and Coordinators.
  • Work to appointments and report progress to the Coordinators. Advise of any delays or early completion of works.
  • Ensure materials are available before meeting the appointment wherever possible.
  • Ensure all material purchases are booked to the relevant jobs and all delivery notes/collection tickets are returned with job sheets to the Coordinators.
  • Deal with company materials carefully to ensure they are kept safe and are installed so as to prevent unnecessary waste, returning all unused materials to safe storage.
  • Operate the company IT control system on a hand-held tablet confirming progress and when the job is fully completed in a timely manner. Provide adequate information to assist Coordinators in closing jobs, raising invoices, quoting clients on future works, sourcing materials and rearranging appointments etc.
  • Review with the Coordinators and/or Operations Directors daily works loads and plan for the future.
  • Highlight and manage risk, ensuring that risk assessments and safety plans are in place when appropriate.
  • Manage time well to ensure good service and minimise expense.
  • Drive a company vehicle to and from appointments.
  • Ensure brand compliance, maintaining a clean and tidy van and personal attire. Protect company and personal tools and plant, keeping them in good order. When necessary, ensure tools and plant are regularly serviced, tested and/or calibrated.
  • Liaise closely with and support the Coordinators, Supervisors and Directors.
  • Bring passion to their work by example and be part of a high performing team.
  • Under relevant supervision, carry out basic works in other trade disciplines.
  • Obtain and keep up to date with qualifications relevant to this role.
  • Ensure that any company vehicle provided is roadworthy, well-maintained, kept safe and regularly serviced. Report to the Admin department any maintenance work required.
  • Ensure you take suitable breaks during the day, evenings, weekends and full annual holidays to ensure that you are alert and ready for work when appropriate.
  • Follow procedures in the “Operational Guide for Red Van Plumbers” and ensure that others under your supervision do so too.
